Herzog SHP spring-operated needle shut-off nozzle
The spring-actuated needle shut-off nozzle SHP was specially developed for users who require uncomplicated shut-off at high temperatures and pressures. This is achieved by positioning the spring system outside the melt flow. An axially movable needle in the nozzle is pushed against the outlet bore by spring force and closes it. At a melt pressure above 200 bar the nozzle opens, while it closes again at pressures below 45 bar. The compact design facilitates installation and can be supplemented by a screen filter with minimal pressure drop. The SHP nozzle offers an efficient solution for applications with high temperatures and pressures and allows easy part replacement for versatile use.
The nozzle is mainly used for low-viscosity thermoplastics such as PA, PPS, PE, POM and PP in the packaging, automotive and leisure industries as well as for medical and electronic equipment. Where opening and closing must be controlled by the machine, the pneumatically or hydraulically actuated HP nozzle is the alternative.

Option: filter
For uninterrupted production and the reliable maintenance of the injection opening, preventive filtration of the plastic melt is often essential. Our melt filter is based on the proven "gap filter principle", which ensures effective separation of foreign particles, thereby enhancing process reliability.
Accessory: heater band
The heater band is an essential component of the heating system, crucial for the optimal performance of our shut-off nozzles. The use of high-quality heating bands is indispensable in the processing of technical plastics. Their compact design and strong heating performance simplify handling and enhance process reliability. Downtime and issues caused by insufficient heat supply are significantly reduced, leading to improved production quality and efficiency.
Accessory: temperature sensor
High-quality temperature sensors are specifically designed for plastics processing. Their robust construction ensures long service life and precise melt temperature measurements, optimizing heat band control and enhancing process reliability. Premium thermocouples are essential for a stable and efficient control loop within the heating system.
